Block in partnership with La Marine Nationale. 2024 - Admission to active service of SNA Duguay-Trouin. Dive into the invisible, where discretion and power reign, and discover the nuclear attack submarine Duguay-Trouin! On April 4, 2024, Admiral Nicolas Vaujour, the French Navy's Chief of Staff, announced the admission to active service of this second jewel in a series of six "Suffren"-class submarines: the Suffren, the Duguay-Trouin, the Tourville, the De Grasse, the Rubis and the Casabianca. In recent months, the Duguay-Trouin has crossed seas and oceans, making history with a stopover in Fort-de-France in March 2024, a first for this type of submarine based in Toulon and now deployed on operations. France's submarine forces include 3,300 sailors and 10 nuclear submarines: 6 nuclear attack submarines (SNA) and 4 nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines (SNLE). Each submarine is armed by two crews (blue and red) who take turns on board. Since 1972, SNLEs have ensured the continuity of France's nuclear deterrent posture, while SNAs play a crucial role in the French Navy's operations. An SNA is at once a fighter, a bodyguard and an intelligence agent, capable of carrying out a wide range of missions. Sailing the seas and oceans, it supports ocean deterrence, escorts valuable units such as the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier, carries out anti-ship and anti-submarine warfare missions, and can be a veritable mobile submarine base for special forces. The stamp features the Duguay-Trouin sailing alongside the carrier battle group. Technical annotations add an educational dimension to this pointillist-style souvenir sheet.
