In 2022, UNESCO's Intangible Heritage Committee designated the French baguette as a World Heritage Site. The philatelic issue honors French baguette-making expertise, and is accompanied by a stamp, a philatelic document and a philatelic souvenir.

The baguette, the bread of our daily lives, the symbol of our gastronomy, the jewel of our culture.

It's made from the basic ingredients of flour, water, salt, yeast and/or sourdough. This apparent simplicity reveals the complexity of its manufacture: dosing and weighing of ingredients, kneading, fermentation, dividing, relaxing, shaping, finishing, scarifying and baking.  

So many meticulous stages mastered by the artisan baker, whose unique know-how has been handed down from generation to generation.

To the touch, it's a transition from the resistance of its crust to the lightness of its honeycombed crumb. En 2022, le Comité du patrimoine immatériel de l'UNESCO a classé la baguette de pain française :  patrimoine mondial de l'humanité. L'émission philatélique met à l'honneur le savoir faire français de la baguette de pain et émet à cette occasion un timbre, un document philatélique et un souvenir philatélique. 

La baguette, pain de notre quotidien, symbole de notre gastronomie, joyau de notre culture.
