Description
STAMP_10 YEARS OF THE LOUIS VUITTON FOUNDATION Philatelic issue to mark the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Fondation Louis Vuitton building. The building is an architectural work by American-Canadian architect Frank Gehry. Text of the philatelic document written by the Fondation Louis Vuitton: From an initial sketch pencilled on the blank page of a notebook, Frank Gehry imagined "a magnificent vessel that symbolizes France's cultural vocation". With its 3,000 m2 of galleries and 12 sails of glass, it has become an iconic building in the capital. The Fondation Louis Vuitton is committed to making art and culture accessible to all. To promote artistic creation on a national and international level, it presents two temporary exhibitions each year to mark the highlights of its program. Twenty-six exhibitions have been presented over the last ten years. Alongside major exhibitions of modern art ("Les Clefs d'une passion", "Icônes de l'art moderne, la collection Chtchoukine", "La collection Courtauld : le parti de l'impressionnisme", "Icônes de l'art moderne, la collection Morozov"), it also presents exhibitions devoted to emblematic artists ("Le monde nouveau de Charlotte Perriand", "Cindy Sherman", "Simon Hantaï. The Centenary Exhibition", "Mark Rothko", "Ellsworth Kelly. Formes et Couleurs, 1949-2015") and offers a look at today's scene in France and around the world ("Chinese artists at the Fondation Louis Vuitton", "Art/Afrique, le nouvel atelier", "Au diapason du monde", "Crossing Views"...). In addition, the Open Space program, initiated in 2018, invites young national and international artists to imagine a specific project for the Foundation, in dialogue with Frank Gehry's building. In parallel, in the Auditorium, a musical program unfolds throughout the year, with some twenty concerts, masterclasses, recitals and more. For the past ten years, the Fondation Louis Vuitton has offered a varied artistic program, accessible to all, which attracts a large and constantly renewed audience.
