Description
To mark the 150th anniversary of the postcard in France, La Poste is reissuing 10 cards illustrating the golden age of the postcard (i.e. up to the 1920s) with a stamp on the reverse that was in use at the time of their first issue, making them ready to mail and travel as pre-stamped cards at the international rate. Typical of the Belle Époque, these cards with a mechanism (pull-tab, fold-out or simple folded flap) modified the image by revealing an additional, often humorous, view. It was also the possibility of revealing several views of the same city in an accordion fold, for example, or multiple messages thanks to a pull-tab or optical effect. Here, the slit at the top of the box is used to slide in a small folded piece of paper and close it with a collage.
