Philatelic document - Mulhouse 800 years of history

Description

As part of Mulhouse's 800th anniversary celebrations, the philatelic document illustrates the 13th-century Bolwerk Tower; The cachet illustrates a historic Mulhouse figure, the profile of Johann-Heinrich Lambert (1728-177), mathematician, physicist, astronomer and philosopher, surrounded by an ouroboros. This medallion appears on the eponymous column in Mulhouse, in tribute to the scientist.
