To mark the 150th anniversary of the postcard in France, La Poste is reissuing 10 cards illustrating the golden age of the postcard (i.e. up to the 1920s) with a stamp on the reverse that was in use at the time of their first issue, making them ready to mail and travel as pre-stamped cards at the international rate.

At the beginning of the 20th century, card production was not sufficiently varied to appeal to all writing enthusiasts. That's why blank cards, usually on watercolor paper, were offered. While some used the paper to paint the motif of their choice, others made collages of feathers, chromos or cut-out stamps. The result is a real masterpiece, like this card featuring Semeuse stamps cut out and glued onto a watercolor background.

Dans le cadre des 150 ans de la carte postale en France, La Poste réédite 10 cartes illustrant l'âge d'or de la carte postale (soit jusqu'aux années 20) revêtues au verso d'un timbre en usage à l'époque de leur première édition, devenant ainsi des cartes pré-timbrées au tarif international prêtes à poster et à voyager.

Au début du XXème siècle, la production de cartes n’était pas suffisamment variée pour plaire à tous les amateurs d’écriture. C’est pourquoi des cartes au recto vierge, le plus souvent sur papier aquarelle, étaient proposées. Si d’aucuns l’utilisaient pour y peindre le motif de leur choix, d’autres effectuaient des collages de plumes, de chromos, ou de timbres découpés. Le résultat produit de véritables petits chefs d’œuvre comme sur cette carte reprenant des timbres Semeuse découpés et collés sur fond aquarellé.
