Description
To mark the 150th anniversary of the postcard in France, La Poste is reissuing 10 cards illustrating the golden age of the postcard (i.e. up to the 1920s) with a stamp on the reverse that was in use at the time of their first issue, making them ready to mail and travel as pre-stamped cards at the international rate. At the beginning of the 20th century, card production was not sufficiently varied to appeal to all writing enthusiasts. That's why blank cards, usually on watercolor paper, were offered. While some used the paper to paint the motif of their choice, others made collages of feathers, chromos or cut-out stamps. The result is a real masterpiece, like this card featuring Semeuse stamps cut out and glued onto a watercolor background.
