Description

Blue is a fascinating color that has spanned the ages, inspiring artists from every culture. From the rare pigments of antiquity to the vibrant shades of modern movements, blue symbolizes the divine, melancholy, infinity and serenity. Egyptian blue, one of the first synthetic pigments, was used on sarcophagi and frescoes as a symbol of rebirth and protection. During the Renaissance, artists such as Raphael and Leonardo da Vinci used lapis lazuli blue to depict the Virgin Mary. In the 19th century, Impressionists like Monet captured the changing reflections of sky and water. In the twentieth century, the famous patented Klein blue is a pure, intense hue, symbolizing immensity and spirituality. Blue continues to intrigue, evoking the depth of the ocean, the immensity of the sky and the mysteries of the soul.
