Description

Thanks to its 79,000 volunteers and 17,500 employees throughout France, the Red Cross is active at every stage of crises, whether economic, health, social, climatic or personal. We help prevent crises by training and preparing the people we serve. It helps those most affected, with psychological, physical and material support. And it helps them to get back on their feet, with solutions for integration and a return to employment. So that everyone feels useful, able to act and adapt. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, founded by Henri Dunant, is based on 7 founding principles that define its orientation, ethics, raison d'être and unique nature: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. It all starts with humanity. Everywhere, Red Cross action aims to prevent and alleviate distress where it is most glaring, by focusing on the needs of the most vulnerable, while respecting their dignity. Unconditional, impartial and indiscriminate assistance. In a society riven by multiple tensions, the Red Cross has opted for neutrality. This means independence from all powers, whoever they may be, wherever they may be. Behind every action, volunteers give their time and energy all year round. A chosen, free and disinterested solidarity which, in itself, represents an act of social transformation. Finally, the last two principles refer to the history of this movement, founded over 160 years ago. Unity, to preserve and reinforce the coherence, coordination and effectiveness of our actions throughout France. Universality, which reminds us that the French Red Cross is part of a worldwide network, present in over 190 countries and transcending all borders.
