Description
Long considered a nuisance animal, the fox (Vulpes vulpes), now listed as a species likely to cause damage (ESOD), is paying dearly for its unjustified reputation. Always close to us in town and country, the opportunistic fox plays a major role in biodiversity. Sometimes a scavenger, it eliminates small sick animals and prevents many epidemics. Extremely useful to agriculture, it consumes over six thousand small mammals (carnivores, rodents, insectivores, etc.) per year, and thus competes very largely and naturally with the spraying of chemical products such as bromadiolone. As you can see, the fox is our ally, and we owe it to ourselves to protect it. Michel Chardin, wildlife photographer.
