Inaugurated in June 2016, the Cité du Vin is now celebrating ten years of existence and influence. Erected on the banks of the Garonne, it has become an emblem of Bordeaux, of the city's close ties with wine and its openness to the world. Its bold architecture - a curved silhouette that evokes the movement of wine in a glass, the eddies of the river and the suppleness of the vine - was designed by Anouk Legendre and Nicolas Desmazières of XTU architects. Its facade of screen-printed glass panels and iridescent lacquered aluminum panels changes with the sun's rays and the time of day, responding to the river through its reflections. This anniversary stamp pays tribute to this unique cultural site, entirely dedicated to the discovery of wine civilizations and the universal, living cultural heritage it represents. Since its opening, the Cité du Vin has welcomed over 3.5 million visitors from all over the world, fascinated by its immersive Permanent Exhibition, its Sensory Tasting Trail, its cultural programming and its Belvedere offering a panoramic view of Bordeaux. In just a few short years, the Cité du Vin has become a veritable meeting point for cultures, know-how and wine-growing regions from all over the world. It bears witness to the vitality of a thousand-year-old heritage and to the ability of people to transmit, share and celebrate the art of wine. By engraving the image of this contemporary monument, this commemorative stamp salutes ten years of exchanges, discoveries and emotions. It invites everyone to continue the journey, to encounter a place that brings together history, today's major environmental issues and the pleasure of the senses.
